The main sealing component for the ACB 431 and ACB 432 pumps is the Mechanical Seal (also designated by a specific reference type RACB, suitable for the 400 series).
Function: The seal dynamically seals the pump shaft where it passes through the pump body, thus preventing the pumped fluid (seawater, fresh water, diesel) from leaking.
Technical characteristics:
- Because these pumps are more powerful than the 300 series models, the seal is sized for higher operating speeds and pressures.
- It is manufactured with wear- and corrosion-resistant materials (Ceramic/Carbon or SiC friction faces, and secondary seals made of durable elastomer).
- Role of the ACB series: ACB pumps have exceptional self-priming capabilities. A mechanical seal in good condition is essential to maintain this performance, as even a small air leak can compromise priming.
The complete replacement kit for these models will include the mechanical seal as well as the O-rings and gaskets required to seal all static interfaces between the pump body and housings.
