The BMA-S 50/160 pump is a self-priming, high-flow centrifugal model, often used for bilge pumps or firefighting applications. The mechanical seal is the essential component for ensuring the sealing of the rotating shaft.

Purpose: It creates a dynamic, watertight barrier between the pump shaft and the pumped liquid, preventing fluid leakage (seawater, etc.) to the bearings and electric motor.

Materials: Given the high flow rate and marine environment, the seal is designed with robust, corrosion-resistant materials. The friction faces are typically made of carbon, ceramic, or silicon carbide (SiC), and the secondary seals are made of high-quality elastomer.

Part Number: The specific seal part number (often an RBMAS code followed by numbers) is sized for the shaft and pump body size corresponding to the 50/160 model.

Replacement Kit: For any overhaul, it is recommended to use a replacement kit that includes the mechanical seal as well as all O-rings and gaskets necessary to statically seal the entire pump body.
