The Mechanical Seal is the essential component that seals the rotating shaft (axis).
Purpose: It prevents leakage of the pumped liquid from the pump body to the motor, thus protecting the motor-bearing assembly. Its integrity is vital to maintain self-priming performance.
Dimensions and Materials: The specific seal part number (often an RBMAS code followed by numbers) is sized for the 32 mm shaft (implied in the 32 model designation). The friction faces are generally made of wear-resistant materials such as Ceramic/Carbon or Silicon Carbide (SiC), with elastomer seals (NBR, Viton) suitable for marine or wastewater environments.
Replacement: To ensure complete sealing, replacing the mechanical seal is always accompanied by replacing the O-rings and other static seals in the pump body, generally grouped together in a repair kit.
