The critical component for shaft sealing on these models is the mechanical seal.

Purpose: It serves as a dynamic seal to prevent leakage of the pumped liquid (seawater, fresh water, etc.) along the rotating shaft and to protect the bearing and motor.

Features: Due to the increased power and higher flow rates of the ACM 400 and ACM 500 pumps, the mechanical seal is designed to handle higher loads and speeds.

Materials: It is generally made from pairs of hard friction faces (often ceramic, graphite, stainless steel, or silicon carbide) and elastomer secondary seals (NBR, Viton) for optimal resistance to wear and corrosion.

Design: These pumps are often equipped with a high-quality double mechanical seal (depending on the version), increasing reliability and service life in continuous operation.

Maintenance: Replacing the mechanical seal at the first sign of leakage is essential to maintain pump efficiency and prevent costly damage to other components.

In addition to the mechanical seal, the term "seal" can also refer to various O-rings and gaskets (sealing washers) used to seal the various static sections of the pump body and end plates. These parts are usually included in a complete repair kit for these models.
