The essential sealing component of these pumps is the mechanical seal.
Purpose: It creates a dynamic, watertight barrier around the rotating shaft, preventing the pumped fluid from leaking from the pump body to the outside and the motor.
Features: ACM series pumps, particularly the ACM 311 and ACM 312 models, are often equipped with a high-quality double mechanical seal (depending on the configuration) to ensure maximum reliability, particularly when transferring critical fluids or during continuous operation.
Materials: To resist corrosion and wear in marine environments, the seal friction faces are generally made of ceramic, stainless steel graphite, or silicon carbide, with secondary seals made of elastomer (NBR, Viton, etc.).
Replacing the mechanical seal is part of routine maintenance to maintain self-priming performance and pump longevity. Repair kits are often available and include not only the mechanical seal, but also various O-rings and other static seals needed for a complete overhaul of the pump body seal.
